The first three readings each outline a different way that the field of international studies should be understood and how those understandings contribute toward explaining social reality. In this first essay, please discuss how each of the authors has come to understand what “International Studies” is and what use it can serve to explain real world events. Next, please share your opinion on which of these interpretations make the most sense to you and your experience in living in the world.  Which elements of the theories do you think are worthwhile, which elements of the theories do you believe to be insignificant?  Why?
