Northwestern College Chicago Mechanism for the Friedel Crafts Acylation Question
Description
The typical reagents for a Friedel‐Crafts acylation are an acid chloride and a Lewis acid, such as AlCl3. Inthis experiment, we will be using different reagents (an anhydride and a protic acid, H3PO4). Propose amechanism for the Friedel‐Crafts acylation reaction using these modified reagents, with methoxybenzeneas the aromatic ring.
